Biased Refs

Last Wednesday, as i've probably said, i was in Dublin for school's U16 water polo. So i'm guessing you'd all like to know how it went? Well, in short, we played like troopers, got screwed by the referees, and therefore lost out.

Game no. 1 saw us getting sin bin penalties 6 times, while the other team got none. I managed to knock up 2 sin bins without doing anything massively wrong, so of course i was duly reminded that one more and i'd be ejected from the game. The game ended in a 8-8 draw, and we decided to opt for sudden death, goal the winner. So we were going nice & well, until the ref decided to give the other team a penalty for no reason at all! Therefore they scored and we lost!

Game no. 2 saw the two most biased refs come together (water polo has 2 refs). This time both teams got sin bins, but the other team got 3 penalties! 3! To add to all the crap, our coach then got throw off the poolside! Basically, the ref tried to warn one of our guys about nearly getting into a fight. Our coach asked the ref if he'd seen it. The ref went "no, but i know it was this guy". No effort to warn the guy from the other team, pfff. So our coach told him to go away and give us some peace (it was a timeout), and then he got kicked out! That game ended on a tiebreak too, and we lost 4-3.

So we played well, and got messed up by the refs. I'm not just saying that, they really were the most biased i've ever come across!
