Reunion of the Roses.....
If there's one band i'd like to see reunite or get together for a one or two big gigs right now, it'd be The Stone Roses. Has anyone heard them? I was only some small age when they were kickin' ass in 1990, but they still have plenty of fans today.
Basically, it goes like this: 4 young hip laid back randomers (including Ian Brown) make a band in the late 80's, draw masses of fans becuase of their uncontested unique sound, play some massive shows, get in a twist with their record label, go to court over it, take a 5 year break while in court, return in 1995 with a new drummer, embark on a world tour, cancel half the shows, break up.
It was a total pity, because these guys made unheard of music, which hasn't been repeated to this day. They called themselves pop, but they aren't. They're on the rocky side, but the music can't be given a certain genre. Although it could've been a good thing that they finished when they did, i mean, they could have just crashed and burned, but they stopped when they were good.
I don't really know why i like their music, its just different. There's something about it that gets me involved, gets me hyped. (not with all their songs, just some of them). Apparently they are immense live, but the only live tracks ever recorded were crappy bootlegs. But even from them they sound great. If there was a reunion id try to over wherever they were playing in a flash. Check them out sometime, best songs are 'I am the Resurrection', 'Breaking into Heaven', 'Waterfall', 'Elephant Stone' and 'I'm begging you'. Some of it is frikin' insane music. Don't get me wrong, there are other bands i wouldn't mind seeing reunite, just thought i'd randomly post something about these guys.
Coz they're bloody good.
