Engeland
Just to be different, i'm going to blog about the World Cup. If you hate it, what do you watch on TV?! Every 5 minutes it's mentioned. Lucky for me, i'm a pretty big fan of competitions like this, even when my interest in regular league soccer has dwindled a bit in previous years. International football is good stuff though as far as i'm concerned. My chosen teams to win the World Cup are Mexico, followed by Holland.
And talking about who's going to win the thing brings me nicely on to...England. Fair play to them, in my opinion they have a damn good team this time round, but why every single time do they get so cocky about winning?!? The players seem to be alright, they're just like "We have a good team, we'll give it a good shot". But the fans, and especially the TV, are kinda annoying. ITV news just ended with a 2 minute video of celebrities wishing England luck, all over some very emtional music. This is the kind of stuff that makes them look so stupid when they lose!! There are other nationalities watching!
But anyways, they've had plenty of luck given to them. If they win they win. On the other hand, one game i'd love to see in the World Cup is USA vs Iran. How awesome would that be in light of the current situation! However, i've checked up, and becuase of the "random drawing of groups", the only possible way Iran can play America is in the 3rd place playoff, or the final itself.
Oh yea, to give some credit to England, they do write good football songs. I haven't heard it, but apparently the Iranian world cup song is shocking. 'Three Lions', however, is quality (do note that they thought they could win Euro '96 and France '98, but didn't!), but i still really like that song. The lyrics can easily be replaced with other lyrics which relate to whatever trophy you want to win. Excellent.
In other events, though of course there isn't really anything else happening other than the World Cup, i had another gig with the Jazz quartet tonight at Instonians, and it was good fun. Moe was giving it stacks, Cookie was being good as usual, and Dos was always doing cheeky things on the keyboard. I just about made it on time after a horlax at the pool, as i was told id be swimming 400m at 6pm, which actually turned out to be 7pm. The computerised timing system then decided to pack up, resulting in it starting at 7.35, and me having to wait for 8 heats to happen in 25mins. However, i just laid the smackdown, and told them i had to go to work (haha), which resulted in me getting moved to the first heat.
So, i swam pretty crap, and had a massive turnover in the car. However the gig was fine, and i enjoyed it cause i played pretty well. It was nice sitting with the sun shining stong on me through the window as it set, while playing some grooves. Yea.
Back to reality. Mexico to win!

Ha, not very different Craig!
Okay, now you are different! I got rid of my fußball-weltmeisterschaft post because I don't consider it worthy ;-)
Well I said it earlier, but saxoMOE's stacks could have been considerably amplified if he were playing the baritone.
Okay, 4th comment, just to clarify! It wasn't the post that was unworthy, it was the sport!
its called passion mate...u know like u have for swimming...
no point going in2 somethinking ur not gonna win...
Haha you can clearly see i have passion for the whole thing. I never said there was anything wrong with going into it thinking about winning, what is kinda annoying is the way they just overhype it and say it's their year every time. Maybe i don't understand cause i'm not English?! If they put on a good show and give entertaining matches i don't really care. Mexico still to win!
who cares if they put on entertaining matches...as long as they win...ne way will do for me!
im sure ud have much rather have swam poorly and won the bath cup then have not won it but swam entertainingly!
Yea yea whatever. Swimming is an entirely different sport to football, and doesn't happen in knockout/group stages like the World Cup.
